The Palestinian center for democracy, studies and researches

Brief of the center: 

The Palestinian center for democracy, studies and researches was established in Nablus city in 2005 as an independent academic center. It is mainly concerned with studies and researches which adopt the scientific objective method in addition to conducting symposiums, conferences, and surveys that support the Palestinian issue with its goals,  in the way to achieve development and establish democracy in the Palestinian society.

 The Palestinian center aims to achieve the following:

1. To provide studies and researches in the favor of advancing the Palestinian issue.
2. To offer counsels for political decision makers in different Palestinian affairs.
3. To raise the awareness of the well-informed to create a cultural and intellectual atmosphere supporting the Palestinian issue.
4. To contribute in cultural and ideological development as well as the general policy in the Palestinian arena.
5. To provide Palestinian researchers with scientific and objective information.
6. To contribute in developing democracy and ideological multiplicity in the Palestinian arena. 
7. To provide a new environment for new researchers that encourages them to be creative.
8. Building a negotiable environment among different ideological parties.

 Center staff:

The Palestinian center has a highly qualified staff that includes the following:

• Center chairman: Dr. Raed Nairat, holding PhD in political sciences and International relations.
• Director of studies and researches department: Belal Al-Shobaki, holding MA. in planning and political development.
• Public relations director. Sulaiman Bsharat.
• Training department (Part Time): The center has a team of qualified trainers in various fields of study such as: political sciences, mass media, management, and languages.
• Legal accountant: undertakes the financial dealings.
• Volunteers: The center mobilizes a group of volunteers to help in implementing activities.
• Board of consultants: It consists of 7 members holding high degrees in political sciences, law, mass media, and sociology. They are responsible of financial, administrative and organizational affairs in the center.

 Center Experience:

From the outset, the Palestinian center has conducted a series of courses and activities that comply with its vision.

 The courses carried out were as follows:  

1. Training course (of 48 training hours) for Palestinian legislative Council members in West Bank governorates in the following fields:  Negotiation skills, political analysis, art of dialogue, communication and presentation skills, art of problem solving, management, and public relations.
2. Training course for workers in the fields of journalism and mass media includes:
   ·          Mass media in a changing world
   ·          Political analysis
   ·          Fundamentals of negotiation
3. Training course for students of political sciences department at An-Najah National University covers the topics of political analysis and negotiation skills.
4. Training course on political analysis for members and staff of   Dialogue center for thought in Hebron.
5. Training course on communication skills and English conversation for the Palestinian center friends.

The center conducted many symposiums and conferences dealing with the following topics:

• The Palestinian center for democracy and political studies launched " Make a dialogue " (Hawer) project: 20/12/2006
• A symposium entitled with" Dangers and mechanisms to manage the crisis".
• Problems hinder Palestinian dialogue.
• The new Palestinian government and mass media: 19/4/2006

 The center issues a daily electronic leaflet contains the latest news and articles in both local and international journals.
